I’m clueless about how home loans work. Is there any way to figure out how much I can afford to spend per month on a home. If I were to get a home for $145,000 how much would that be per month? How do I know how much the interest will be? Any sites that explain it all in laymans terms? Thanks

  • How do they roll taxes into home loans?

My wife and I are young college graduates, and with the falling housing market, home ownership is looking better and better. We live in NW Wisconsin, where a decent home will cost you $115,000 – My question is this; how does the cost of taxes play into this? The average home tax around here is $1500 – $2,000 / year here. Does this mean that our loan of say $100,000 becomes $160,000 ($2k/yr/30yr)

I’m getting ready to buy my house. I know to do a 30-yr fixed rate. I’m just wondering what is the buzz about subprime home loans? It seems to really be hurting people and mortgage companies. What are the advantages and disadvantages? Thanks.

  • Can having many mortgages on your credit drop your score?

Now go get ya shine box!!!

I have a total of 3 mortgages and I am about to buy 5 more houses. I have heard (not from an expert but he sounded like he was speaking from experience) that once you get up to a certain number of debt or number of mortgages on your credit, it can drop your score, is this true?

  • If I go into foreclosure will the mortgages remain a lein against me?

    Home Loans 04.08.2009 1 Comment

I have a first loan and a second. I called a lender who wants me to short sale it instead of foreclosure because he said the second will remain a lein against me even after I lose the house (it is with Washington Mutual). Is that true? I lost my job and can’t make the payments, and can’t sell it because the value got appraised at $250,000 and my mortgages add up to $400,000.
I thought they are secured by the property, not by my life.
